The CR1 LS1
The Aquila CR1 LS1 is your 5.7l GM masterpiece, while not quite as powerful compared to its bolder, bigger capacity cousins, this 350hp CR1 still has a power to weight ratio of just 2.517kg per hp! that’s 389 bhp per tonne to us here in the UK. The CR1 LS1 was introduced for racing schools and also to give less skilled gentlemen drivers the chance to get behind a moderate powered CR1 with the option for an easy upgrade to the LS3 or LS7 later if needed.
The CR1 LS1 is a fantastic way of providing novice drivers with the basic knowledge they need to move on to something bigger. It maintains all the LS series components surrounding the block itself meaning that an upgrade to an LS3 or LS7 is very easy indeed. That said the GM LS1 is a powerhouse in its own right, many other manufacturers use them as upgrades to a V6’s or smaller V8′s and in many cases the GM LS1 can greatly improve a cars performance. As an entry level LS series CR1 this gives you an idea of what kind of performance the LS3 and LS7 deliver.
If your looking for something a bit special but manageable in the beginning, then the Aquila CR1 LS1 is a platform for you. It is a stunning piece of engineering that can provide a driver with the experience needed to progress in to a higher level of racing.
